This is a massive and beautiful Claymore based on the dimensions and style of the famous one at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh. The scabbard and grip are made of bog oak, considered a precious hardwood because it was preserved in bog marshland for 500 to 5000 years, achieving it's dark colour. It has always been the traditional choice of wood for a Claymore grip. It's carvings are inspired by the major heraldic themes of Scotland- the Thistle, Unicorn, and Lion. Her name, 'Clauran', means 'thistle' in Scots - Gaelic. The carved thistle stems up from the chape of the scabbard and interweaves itself along the length and sides of the scabbard, revealing itself again coming up from behind the Unicorn and Lion on the grip. The hilt is of steel with a blacksmith's antiqued finish, and hammered-in sterling silver inlays. The blade is high carbon German steel, hardened, tempered, hollow ground, and hand polished. Blade 45.5" (116 cm), 59.5" (151 cm) overall, balance point 3.5" from hilt Sword weighs 3.1 kg, (6 lbs. 13 oz.)
