I've been actively working on Pattern Welding recently: the practice of forming a blade from strips of metal of differing compositions that are forge-welded together, twisted and manipulated to form a pattern. It's often mistaken for Damascus, but the difference is that Pattern Welding brings out distinct uniform patterns in the steel. There's a lot in the works right now at Vogie Forge, so stay tuned. Here's a sample of an upcoming Pattern Welded Sgian Dubh.
