Started on some dirk blades this week, two at about a foot long and the bigger one has a 17" blade. Historically, they seem to range anywhere from 10" to 20" in the eighteenth century, and were commonly made from broken broadswords. These all have a very thick spine (over 3/8" near the hilt) and feel like heavy duty fighters. I'll be working on hilts and scabbards for these one at a time between other projects.
