While the top coats are drying on the scabbard of the arming sword, I'm starting on the next project. It's a 9th century celtic short sword based on a carving found on the Govan Stones near Glasgow, Scotland.
The horseman's unique weapon is short bladed and double edged, existed in the 9th-11th centuries when the stones were carved, and matches the style of a viking type F from the 9th century. My blade is nearly finished and I fired up the forge to hammer out the rough shapes of the hilt pieces.
